The SEQ HOPE Foundation is committed to providing seven months of support to seven families who lost everything in the devastating Eaton Fires. These families have endured unimaginable loss, and we are dedicated to walking alongside them as they rebuild their lives. Over the next seven months, we are covering temporary housing, rental cars, food, clothing, therapy, and more to help them regain stability and hope.

Our Promise to These Families:

• Gift cards for food, gas, and clothing.

• Rental cars and gas to ensure they can get to work and other essential destinations.

• Hotel accommodations until they secure temporary housing.

• First month’s rent and up to six months of rent for temporary housing.

• Therapy services for those who need and want emotional support during this transition.

• Storage unit rentals to safely store furniture, appliances, and other essential items as they rebuild their lives.

Our 7 for 7 Campaign Goals:

• Raise $30,000 to $50,000 to provide consistent, comprehensive support over the next seven months.

• Ensure every family has the resources they need to rebuild their lives with dignity and stability.

• Encourage community involvement through direct donations or by purchasing Light The Mood candles (our foundations sole fundraising source), with 100% of proceeds supporting these families.

Why We Depend on Your Support
At The SEQ HOPE Foundation, we believe in serving others with empathy, respect, and confidentiality. As part of our commitment to the individuals and families we support, we do not publicize the work we do.

For over 25 years, we have provided vital services such as feeding the unhoused, rescuing and rehabilitating trafficked teens, working with youth sex offenders, and teaching emotional intelligence to young people. While these efforts are life-changing, we do not document or share these activities publicly. This is a deliberate choice, grounded in our belief that publicizing charitable work often exploits the vulnerability of those being served.

We reject participation in “poverty porn” or “trauma porn.” These terms refer to the act of sensationalizing someone’s suffering for the sake of promoting an organization or evoking pity from an audience. Trauma porn is the exploitation of another person’s pain to evoke emotional reactions, often without their consent or regard for their dignity. Poverty porn specifically focuses on sensationalizing financial hardship to garner support. Both forms of exploitation strip individuals of their agency and dignity, turning their lived experiences into a spectacle.

At The SEQ HOPE Foundation, we protect the dignity and privacy of those we serve. Instead, we rely on the generosity and trust of donors who believe in the integrity of our work.
